While eating I've noticed a little square orange canister being opened and the pink paste inside being spread upon bread and eaten. I couldn't make head or tails out of what this possibly could be. Trying to get an idea from the picture was of no use, there was no indication of what the canister contained. There are a lot of Norwegian words that are similar enough to English that I tried seeing if any of the words made sense. None did. I finally asked what the spread was and I was told that it was pig liver processed into a tasty paste. Yummy, huh? I was asked if we had this item in the United States and to my knowledge we do not. I've never seen it. Of course I have never searched for pig liver spread in the supermarket. I was asked if I wanted to try it and I thought, sure why not, I'm in Norway for gods sake. It wasn't that bad, not my first choice of what to put on my piece of bread, but it wasn't as horrible as it sounds.
Picture: In foreground is the above mentioned pink pig liver. In the pack is deli meat made from pig but I was told it is not ham so I am not sure exactly what it is. All I know is that it tastes good on a piece of bread with Dijon mustard. The carton is organic milk which I enjoy every morning.

We ate pate every day in Italy. It was delicious. Europeans are crazy about pate. I never thought about what it was exactly.
